Service Description

The Hostage Negotiation course is specifically designed for law enforcement professionals and tactical team members who are responsible for crisis response and hostage situations. This hands on, scenario based training will help the student learn and grow as a hostage negotiator. It will provide the student with the knowledge, skills, and inside tips on what it takes to become proficient in hostage negotiations. Topics Covered: History of Negotiations Tactical Use of Negotiators Team Structure / Command Post Basics of Negotiating - Intelligence Communications & rapport building Negotiation with Suicidal Persons Critical Incident Management Psychology of Negotiations Terrorism and extremists Stress Management-the aftermath Legal Issues Training Development H.O.B.A.S. Kidnapping Negotiations Scenario based training and practical exercises Instructor: Lieutenant Belinda Mangum (retired), a highly accomplished and dedicated law enforcement professional with an incredible 25 years of service. Belinda’s extensive experience and expertise make her an invaluable asset as an instructor. Throughout her career, Belinda has held various critical roles, including patrol deputy, DWI Enforcement deputy, SFST instructor, I.O. operator and crisis intervention deputy. Belinda also served as a training academy instructor, firearms instructor, and BPOC instructor to name a few. As a detective Belinda investigated persons and property crimes before being selected for the child abuse multi-disciplinary investigatory team. Belinda was promoted to patrol sergeant and later selected as the criminal investigations division sergeant and hostage negotiations team supervisor. In her role as Lieutenant, Belinda supervised a patrol platoon and served as the Field Training Director. Additionally, as a Lieutenant, Belinda supervised two Special Operations Divisions: Special Operations traffic consisting of MOTORS, HEAT, CVE, Lake Patrol, the Dive Team and later Special Operations - Crisis Intervention Team and School Resource Officer Program consisting of multiple districts. Belinda has completed prestigious training programs, including the FBI Trilogy, Bill Blackwood’s LEMIT Leadership Inventory for Female Executives, TCLEADS, and SHEILD. Additionally, she has trained and is experienced in Active Shooter Incident Management, Advanced Hostage Negotiations, Special Event Evacuation and Contingency Planning for Sports Venues and has served as the Law Enforcement Incident Commander.

Cancellations within 5 days of registering are 100% refundable, unless the following restrictions apply: Due to limited seating, we request that you cancel at least 5 days before a scheduled class begins. This gives others the opportunity to register for the class. If you have to cancel your class, and do so at least 5 days before the class, you may use the credit towards any future class. At any time after registering, or within 5 days of the course, you may transfer the registration to another person.
