Service Description

This Basic Instructor Certification course is designed to provide the basic concepts of instruction and to increase the quality of professional law enforcement training. This course introduces the student to the teaching-learning process, phases of the teaching-learning process, factors affecting learning, needs assessment, task analysis, developing learning objectives, preparing a lesson plan, and methods of instruction. The students will be taught how to develop and use instructional media to enhance their presentations. In addition, the fundamental techniques of developing testing and evaluation procedures will be presented. Each trainee must demonstrate the basic knowledge and skills required to effectively instruct a lesson during two teaching exercises which will be evaluated by two instructors. Over the years, he has consistently strived to enhance his skills and qualifications, obtaining certifications as a Mental Health Officer and certified Crisis/Hostage Negotiator. His achievements include serving in various capacities, including Negotiator, Training Coordinator, and Team Commander in a joint metro SWAT team. He holds several notable certifications, including an Associate degree in Criminal Justice, Master Peace Officer proficiency, Advanced Instructor, and Instructor for De-Escalation. Prerequisites: Two years’ experience as a peace officer, telecommunicator, or jailer; or a bachelor’s degree and two years of teaching experience; or a graduate degree.

Cancellations within 5 days of registering are 100% refundable, unless the following restrictions apply: Due to limited seating, we request that you cancel at least 5 days before a scheduled class begins. This gives others the opportunity to register for the class. If you have to cancel your class, and do so at least 5 days before the class, you may use the credit towards any future class. At any time after registering, or within 5 days of the course, you may transfer the registration to another person.
