This course is designed to guide investigators through a proper process to satisfy TCOLE background requirements. Students will have knowledge upon completetion of this course on: SB 24, Documentation required (CBF), Secureshare, Internal affairs (G) files, the Appointment Process Flowchart and 1701.451 Pre-employment Procedure. Topics Covered: 1. Student will be able to list the Documents needed from a Law Enforcement applicant. 2. Student will be able to identify the minimum standards required for persons to be licensed/appointed 3. Student will have knowledge of the phases required during the pre-employment background investigation. 4. John served 25 years with the Texas Military Forces, promoting to the rank of Chief Warrant Officer 5 and served as a military instructor for Defensive Tactics, Physical Security, Investigations, Firearms, Use of Force, and other related topics.

Students will learn how to draft a search warrant affidavit by collectively discussing fact based scenarios based on current case law. Class exercises include a fact pattern for which each attendee writes a search warrant affidavit and submits it to the instructors for constructive critique. A flash drive containing handouts with current law, templates for search warrant documents, and reminders of the subject matter covered is provided to each attendee. Your Instructor, Ted Wilson is a retired Assistant District Attorney with 35 years of service. He concluded his career as the Chief of the Special Crimes Bureau, where he worked closely with law enforcement on active investigations and authored numerous search warrants. This course introduces the student to the teaching-learning process, phases of the teaching-learning process, factors affecting learning, preparing a lesson plan, and methods of instruction. The students will be taught how to develop and use instructional media to enhance their presentations. In addition, the fundamental techniques of developing testing and evaluation procedures will be presented. Each trainee must demonstrate the basic knowledge and skills required to effectively instruct a lesson during two teaching exercises which will be evaluated by two instructors. Target Population: Individuals desiring to qualify for an instructor proficiency certification. Student Pre-Requisites: Two years experience as a peace officer, telecommunicator, or jailer; or a bachelor’s degree and two years of teaching experience; or a graduate degree. Instructor Pre-Requisites: TCOLE Instructor or Documented Subject Matter Expert Certification Individuals must meet proficiency certification requirements as set out in Requirements: TCLEOSE Rule §221.27; submit completed application on currently prescribed format, and application fee. This 5-day, 50 hour course is designed as an introduction to law enforcement professionals who will conduct or support dignitary/executive protective service operations for elected officials, political appointees, members of the court, high profile individuals of wealth or potential targets of terrorism and/or criminal acts. There will be classroom, field operational planning, and exercises to include live fire drills. The student will gain the knowledge and skills to organize, plan, and execute protective security detail. Prerequisite: 1. LEO only (Military or Private Security by invite only). 2.
