Service Description

The Dangerous Dog Investigator course is a comprehensive 16-hour training designed to equip investigators with the knowledge and skills to handle dangerous dog cases effectively. The course focuses on TX Health & Safety Code 822, providing a detailed review of the definitions, terminology, and legal requirements for declaring a dog dangerous in Texas. Key topics include: Understanding the Dangerous Dog Law (TX Health & Safety Code 822) Case studies to explore real-life scenarios and decision-making processes The role of the court in dangerous dog cases The interplay between state law and local ordinances in dangerous dog cases. How to draft a dangerous dog declaration and perform investigations Inspection processes and maintaining communication with insurance companies The course also includes a review of the state requirements for owning a dangerous dog in Texas, as well as how jurisdictions can build on these requirements to strengthen local ordinances. Students will leave the class with a thorough understanding of the legal and procedural aspects of dangerous dog investigations and how to manage these cases in their own jurisdiction. 16 hours DSHS CEU TCOLE approved for 16 hours CEU Menger Public Safety is not responsible for the registration of this course.
