Interacting with Drivers Deaf and Hard of Hearing The course will provide comprehensive procedures for engaging with drivers who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing. Join us for an insightful exploration of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing communities. We will address key topics, including Deaf culture, American Sign Language, and essential considerations for effectively serving these communities in the field. Topics Covered: Procedures for Interacting with Drivers who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing Deaf and hard of hearing Specialty License Plates Legal obligations Communication strategies Situational awareness De-escalation techniques Resources and tools This is a requisite course for those Peace Officers working toward their Intermediate Certificate or their Advanced Certificate if their Intermediate was issued on or after January 1, 2016.
