Service Description
Thorough investigation of a crime scene, along with meticulous evidence gathering and documentation, are essential aspects of any criminal investigation. This course is designed to equip participants with the knowledge, techniques, and methods necessary to conduct effective investigations, spanning from general crime scene investigations to death investigations. Topics Covered: Legal Aspects of a Crime Scene Search Preparing for a Crime Scene Investigation Investigating a Crime Scene Sketching and Photographing Fingerprinting Identification, Collection, and Preservation of Evidence DNA Evidence Specific Crime Scene Searches Simulated Crime Scene Computer and Other Electronic Evidence Location: Hutto Ninth Grade Center 301 Destiny Lane Hutto TX 78634 Instructor: Mauricio Maya graduated from the Laredo College Regional Law Enforcement Academy class in June 1990. Mauricio served 33 years in law enforcement. Mauricio served with the Laredo Police Department, Hutto Police Department, and Austin Community College District Police throughout his law enforcement career. Mauricio has served in different sections during his law enforcement career to include Patrol Division, Community Relations Unit, Criminal Investigative Division (CID), and Crime Scene Unit. Mauricio is a US Army veteran and attained an Associate’s Degree in Criminal Justice from Laredo Community College. Mauricio has 4111 total training hours as reported by The Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE) and holds proficiency certificates as a Master Peace Officer, Basic Instructor Proficiency, School Based Law Enforcement Officer, and Crime Prevention Inspector

Cancellations within 5 days of registering are 100% refundable, unless the following restrictions apply: Due to limited seating, we request that you cancel at least 5 days before a scheduled class begins. This gives others the opportunity to register for the class. If you have to cancel your class, and do so at least 5 days before the class, you may use the credit towards any future class. At any time after registering, or within 5 days of the course, you may transfer the registration to another person.
